Hlanganani Ngothando

Clare worked at Esinqobile Therapy Centre for 6 months in 1995 and found it to be a life-changing experience. The Therapy Centre is run by HNO and offers support, education and physical therapy to mentally and physically handicapped children. This is a very unique set-up; the school is based in a very deprived part of Kwazulu Natal, South Africa and these children would often be abandoned at birth were it not for this organisation. A lot of the children have cerebral palsy and often other medical conditions such as TB, epilepsy and HIV.

The organisation plays an integral part in school life-skills programs, prisoner rehabilitation, occupational, physiotherapy and rehabilitative therapy for mentally and physically handicapped children and young adults; community outreach programs which encompasses resource distribution, health counselling, rehabilitative support, distribution of food parcels to vulnerable families, nutritional and community healthcare.
